The Desktop Utility Record Search provided valuable context and background information about the site’s infrastructure, allowing us to anticipate and address any potential challenges ahead of the on-site survey. This proactive approach minimised the risk of encountering unknown utilities or issues during the physical survey, improving both the efficiency and accuracy of the work.
For the Trafalgar Square project, we conducted a full underground utility mapping of the site within the designated survey area as outlined in the site plan. This survey was essential for identifying the location of existing utilities beneath the surface, which is critical for any ongoing or future construction or maintenance work in the area.
To achieve comprehensive and accurate results, we employed a combination of Electromagnetic Locating (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) methods. These advanced techniques allowed us to detect a wide range of utilities, including those made from non-metallic materials that may not have been detectable with traditional methods.
Once the utilities were located, our team physically marked their positions on the ground using spray paint. This visual reference helped with on-site validation and ensured that the data was accurate and easy to interpret. We compared our findings with the existing statutory record information for the site, where available. This comparison helped us verify the accuracy of the location and condition of the utilities, ensuring that no discrepancies were present in the mapping.
The final survey results were delivered in an AutoCAD format, providing the client with a detailed and precise map that can be used for planning and decision-making in subsequent phases of the project.
This inspection was critical for ensuring the functionality and integrity of the ducts, which play a key role in housing and protecting essential utility cables and infrastructure.
Using advanced CCTV technology, we thoroughly examined the interior of the ducts, capturing high-resolution footage to document their condition. This process allowed us to identify any obstructions, structural damage, or signs of wear that could hinder their functionality or pose a risk to utility installations.
The CCTV Duct Inspection provided invaluable insights into the condition of the ducts, enabling the client to plan maintenance or upgrades with confidence.
